Recent guest speaker Dr Rhyl Hinwood, celebrated Brisbane Sculptor Artist Consultant who has been commissioned to do many ecclesiastic pieces for Churches, logos for international resorts, corporate pieces both here and overseas, informed us about her life’s work.(http://www.rhylhinwood.com)

Errol O’Neill, Author, Actor, Playwright

Wellknown author, actor and playwright, Errol O’Neill spoke about his most recent play, the story of the notorious Brisbane Mayne family whose descendants donated the stained glass windows in St Stephen’s Cathedral, ongoing proceeds to support the Faculty of Medicine, numerous pieces of real estate as well as the land on which the Queensland University is now sited. In 2003 The One Book One Brisbane Book of the Year ‘The Mayne Inheritance’ written by Rosamond Siemon, expands on the story of the Mayne family.

Peter Dornan A.M., Physiotherapist, Author

Physiotherapist, Author and winner of the DB Duncan Training Fellowship Award and Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia, Peter Dornan, gave us an insight into the highlights and joys he experienced in writing ‘Silent Men’, a story about the 2/14th Battalion in World War II.

Brian Herd, B.A.,LL.B. (Hons), Solicitor

Brian Herd B.A., LL.B. (Hons) from Carne and Herd Solicitors, explored some new and intelligent devices to protect our family, our wealth and ourselves. He included information on Enduring Powers of Attorney, Advanced Health Directives, Family Agreements and the importance of Superannuation as well as the impact of Binding Nominations on benefits from Superannuation Funds.

Bev Hickey, Noonga Reconciliation Group

Bev Hickey informed us about the Noonga Reconciliation Group. Bev enlightened and entertained us with the story of her personal journey where she has come to understand and respect the world’s oldest living culture.
